Her Solo Dance Win Sends Camila to Nationals

Her Solo Dance Win Sends Camila to Nationals

What did you do?

I participated in a regional dance competition in Orlando, Florida on December 7, 2018. My solo won 2nd place overall in the junior division. We had the opportunity to audition for scholarships and I won Honored Dancer Nominee.

This means that at Nationals, I will have the opportunity to compete for Honored Dancer. If I win that, I will get to work as an assistant on all of next year’s dance competitions, with all my expenses paid.

This could be an awesome learning experience for me. I’m working very hard to prepare for Nationals which will take place on July 11-17.

What organization recognized the achievement?

The organization that recognized my achievement is called Adrenaline Dance.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Thanks to homeschooling I’m able to train 8 hours a day, 5 times a week at my studio.

By doing this I’ve been able to get stronger at my technique, work on my stamina, and build endurance. I’ve also learned to understand my body better and how to move using my musicality.

What are your interests?

Dance is my life! I cannot imagine myself living without it. I love how I can express myself without having to use words. If I have a bad day, dance always makes me feel better. I work very hard every single day to get better at what I love to do the most, DANCE…

What are you inspired to do with your life?

I’m inspired to become the best dancer I can be. And to be able to spread my joy to those who watch me dance. When I’m older, I would love to work on Broadway and later open my own studio, to help girls like me follow their dreams just like Miami Dance Project is helping me today.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

My favorite subjects are reading and math. I love reading because I can transport myself to places and situations I’ve never experienced before and math because it challenges me since math doesn’t come easy for me.
