Savannah Awarded Pope Francis Merit Scholarship

What did you do?

I have been designated a Tampa Catholic Scholar and was awarded the Pope Francis Merit Scholarship from Tampa Catholic High School for receiving the highest composite scores on the HSPT (High School Placement Test).

What organization recognized the achievement?

Tampa Catholic High School recognized this achievement.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Due to a medical condition that I have called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (commonly known as “Brittle Bones”), I have constant doctors’ appointments and broken bones which make it very difficult for me to attend school. Seton has been an excellent school for me because of my medical condition. I have been a Seton student since the fifth grade.

Homeschooling has made it easier for me to attend doctors’ appointments and has helped to keep me in a safe environment at home. Homeschooling has also allowed me to spend more time doing charity work as a Shriners Patient Ambassador.

Now that my bones are stronger from receiving infusions at Shriners Hospital for Children Tampa, I am less likely to break my bones and I do not need to use a wheelchair or walker to move around. I can now safely walk around on a school campus for high school.

What are your interests?

What are you inspired to do with your life?

I would like to be a graphic designer or an artist.

What are your favorite subjects and why?
