Winning Essay Gets John Best Seat for Turkey Hunt

This spring, I entered the Old Dominion One Shot Turkey Hunt essay contest and won a professionally guided turkey hunt on some of the best hunting land in Virginia.

The essay contest was sponsored by the Wildlife Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Inland Game and Fisheries.

Two dinners were also part of the event where I had an opportunity to meet professionals involved in conservation and wildlife management as well as people interested in passing on the skills and traditions of turkey hunting to the next generation.

Without Seton Home Study’s strong writing instruction, I never would have been able to write a winning essay.

Homeschooling has also given me the opportunity to learn more about hunting and spend time in the woods learning to call, track, and harvest turkeys.

In the future, I would like to have a career in wildlife management.
