Irie’s Corporal Work of Mercy Helps Others and the World

Today’s earth day and when I told my daughter about it, she asked if I would drive her to the cemetery so she could pick up trash to help the planet. I was thrilled she wanted to do something good and productive. We stayed for over 2 hours and she picked up garbage all by herself!

I just pushed my younger child in the stroller while Irie walked around straightening flowers and collecting trash. We left with 2 big bags full!

Here’s Irie’s story:

What did you do?

We went to the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia to pick up trash and clean up the graveyard.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Homeschooling teaches me to help others and the world.

What are your interests?

I am a team member of the Old Dominion Aquatic Club.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

I want to be an Olympic swimmer one day.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

I love science because it teaches me about the different animals, plants, and bugs on the planet. I also like doing experiments.
