Amani Wins Gold Medals, Dreams of Olympic Dressage

What did you do?

I won 2 gold medals in Equitation and Dressage, and one bronze in Trail riding for the Special Olympics in my County.

What organization recognized the achievement?

Special Olympics Howard County recognized the achievement and the Howard County Mounted Police gave me the awards.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Homeschooling has let me have more time to achieve my dream of competing in the Olympics in Dressage when I grow up. I also want to be a role model for other little girls like me to work hard and dream big, no matter what.

What are your interests?

I love horseback riding, swimming on the Columbia Clippers Swim team, singing in church choir, reading, drawing, and playing with my siblings.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

I believe that my mission from God is to teach others about my different ability, which is autism. I also believe that there are no limits to what you can do if you pray and work hard. I want other girls like me to follow my example and go for their dreams.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

I love reading because it’s like taking a trip without having to pack! I also love history because it’s learning about what our ancestors did not so long ago.

This photo was taken at The Therapeutic Riding and Recreation Center in Howard County, Maryland. This was the venue for the Special Olympics.
