Christian and Sebastian Win Florida State BASS Nation High School Fishing Award

Christian and Sebastian Win Florida State BASS Nation High School Fishing Award

On May 1, 2016 we won the State of Florida BASS Nation High School Team of the Year award, surpassing 70+ high school teams.

It was a crowning achievement because in 2013 Christian first had to get a Homeschool Team to be recognized and accepted as a “legal” team by BASS Nation in order to compete with the other high school teams.

As winners, we will be Florida’s first homeschool team to represent the state at the national tournament on Kentucky Lake in August.

What organization/entity recognized the achievement?

BASS Nation (bass fishing)

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

The flexibility of our schedule allows us to practice fishing early in the mornings. It often allows us to arrive at our tournament sites the day before the event to get acclimated with the lake and the surrounding area.

What are your interests?

Boating, bass fishing, and volunteering at our church food pantry.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

We would like to continue bass fishing and hopefully teach others the fun of fishing!

What are your favorite subjects and why?

Christian – History and English (I enjoy reading about the past as we move into the future, as well as expressing myself in writing)

Sebastian – math (I am a numbers kind of guy!)
