Austin and Kaitlyn Fish Across the State of Texas

What did you do?

Austin is able to participate in fishing tournaments around the State of Texas. He was able to gain 2nd place in his age division overall for 2020 and a scholarship for his achievements in 2021. Kaitlyn is able to participate in fishing Tournaments around the State of Texas.

It has been a great way for the family to enjoy the outdoors, be goal-focused and teach with each new Lake organizational and adaptation skills, educate on weather forecasting, and emphasize health and safety to human and animal life. With so many struggles in the past year, this was a fun and safe way for our family to come together and participate in the sport, enjoy God’s creations, and take time to reflect on what’s important.

What organization recognized the achievement?

We participate in the Lone Star Junior Bassmaster. It is a B.A.S.S. Sanctioned Non-Profit Tax-Exempt Youth Bass Club in Dallas-Fort Worth encouraging youth fishing through education, ethics, sportsmanship, and conservation.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

By being a part of Seton Home Study, Kaitlyn and Austin are able to have the flexibility to complete their schooling and prepare for their fishing tournaments.

What are your interests?

Kaitlyn loves her time completing artwork, participating in community service with Girl Scouts, and badge work. Austin loves to fish, play soccer, basketball, and video games.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

Kaitlyn is looking forward to starting high school next year and all the new adventures that it may bring. She is very empathetic towards others and wants to be a neonatal nurse. Austin has a big heart and loves to help children. He also wants to be a professional fisherman!!!

What are your favorite subjects and why?

Kaitlyn’s favorite school subject is science because she loves to learn about the human body systems. Austin’s favorite subjects in school are handwriting, vocabulary, and religion because he says he needs to achieve a Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Competition win for the state of Texas.
