Julia Paints to Raise Money for the Unborn

Over the past year, I have been part of a pro-life group for young women, which has undertaken Culture of Life studies and helped organize fundraising events for our local pregnancy support centre, Esencia Life Centre. This centre is located in regional Australia, which is not very common in our country.

I have learnt much in this group, including the need for us to stand up for the lives of the unborn who cannot speak for themselves. This year was the 10th anniversary of the opening of Esencia Life Centre, and a formal dinner was held with a fine art auction to raise money for the center. The director of the Life Center asked me to paint this artwork to be auctioned along with many other paintings. I am pleased to say that we raised a large amount of money.

What did you do?

I painted an acrylic icon of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which I donated to the charity dinner auction to raise money for the unborn.

What organization recognized the achievement?

Esencia Life Centre

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Homeschooling helped me achieve this goal because of the flexibility it allows. Once a week, I met up with other senior Seton girls to work on our art projects in a private art studio at one of the girls’ homes. I was also able to paint during morning tea and lunch breaks at home, which allowed me to finish the painting on time as I did not have much notice. Without this flexibility, it would not have been possible.

What are your interests?

I love painting, drawing, paper crafts, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

This has inspired me to use my artistic talents to help the unborn. I hope to develop my artistic skills more fully. One day, I might start a small art business.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

My favorite subjects this year were probably Catholic Apologetics and The Early Church And The Fathers which helped me learn more about my Faith.
