Michael and Emily Awarded for 100’s of Volunteer Hours
On December 16, 2019 County Commissioner Stephen R. Deutsch presented certificates to Michael and Emily Black in recognition for their community service.
Previously the children had received the Presidential Service Award from President Trump for their hundreds of documented hours of volunteer work in the prior 12 months.
Each child has also been submitted for a second Presidential Service Award.
Tenth-grader Michael had these comments to share:
How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?
Homeschooling and my Faith have given me the time and desire to help others and perform works of mercy.
What are your favorite subjects and why?
History, religion, and reading. I love to read about history and how it shows the foundation of the Catholic Faith.
What are you inspired to do with your life?
I am still discerning my future at this time.
