On His Lifetime Journey, George Now Has Black Belt

After 5.5 years of training, I received my black belt in taekwondo.

What organization recognized the achievement?

Blackman’s Championship Martial Arts and the World Taekwondo Federation

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

Being homeschooled gave me time to practice the physical requirements needed for testing, including 100 pushups in five minutes, three vignettes on self-defense, twenty-five hours of assistant teaching, and breaking a brick with the palm of my hand (just to name a few!). Seton’s writing requirements also provided me with the knowledge and skill to write two extensive essays: “The History of Taekwondo” and “What Becoming a Black Belt Means to Me.”

My interests include:

  • Close-up card magic.
  • Steam locomotives.
  • Lego stop-motion animation.
  • Someday owning an RV to see the U.S.A.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

I plan on continuing my taekwondo journey throughout my life: I am now a lifetime member of my dojang and aspire to even higher levels of black belt. I am looking forward to being confirmed next year with the name of Francis, and I would also like to start a YouTube channel (when I am older) featuring my Lego animation.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

History (of the U.S. specifically) because I find our country’s past very interesting. Science, because God’s creation is a never-ending fascination.
