Brie Speeds Past Novice, Wins Silver and Gold
What did you do?
I recently joined a swimming competition in the Philippines, and it went really well! I won Silver in the 25m Butterfly, Silver in the 25m Backstroke, and Gold in the 25m Breaststroke! For Freestyle, I didn’t receive a medal because my time was actually faster than the novice cutoff—they told me I was already advanced beyond the novice level, which was a huge compliment and really encouraging!
What organization recognized the achievement?
Swim League Philippines
How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?
Homeschooling helped me a lot with swimming because it gave me the flexibility to train more and rest when I needed to. I didn’t have to worry about rushing between school and practice, so I could focus on improving my skills.
What are your interests?
I’m all about swimming, singing at the top of my lungs, painting and drawing anything I can think of, playing with makeup, making fun blind bags, and getting crafty with all sorts of arts and crafts!
What are you inspired to do with your life?
I’m inspired to keep getting better at swimming and maybe even become a champion one day! I love being in the water—it makes me feel strong and free. Someday, I’d love to inspire other kids to chase their goals too, whether it’s in swimming or anything else they love.
What are your favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subjects are English and Art. I love English because I get to read stories, learn new words, and express myself through writing. Art is awesome because it lets me be creative and bring my ideas to life with colors and drawings.
