Nicholas Named Runner-up in Swim Championship

On July 20-24, 2016, I competed in the Indiana Age Group State Swimming Championships and became the Indiana State Runner-Up in the 1500 Meter Freestyle event with a time of 17:05.86.

What organization recognized the achievement?

Indiana Swimming, Inc. and USA Swimming.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

With the flexibility of homeschooling, I am able to spend many hours each day in the pool to train at a competitive, championship level.

What are your interests?

I also play soccer and piano, enjoy reading, and assist teaching the 6th grade CCD class at our church.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

With my dad being a doctor and my mom being a nurse, I have grown up in an environment that includes an alternative approach to healthcare.

I’m thinking of being some type of doctor in order to continue sharing a healthy lifestyle with others.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

I like the challenge of Advanced Math, and I like Chemistry because of the many fun experiments.

Because of my flexible schedule, I’m also taking a college-credit class in Biomedical Science where I get to investigate crimes through experiments.

My brother, Luke (left), and I were on 4 different relays together at the same state meet. Our relay team made it on the podium several times!
