Christopher Sets Sights on Naval Academy
I want to go to the Naval Academy. After some research, we found a Stem Camp at the Naval Academy for rising 9th graders. I took a lot of time, wrote my essay, and was accepted.
I spent a week at The Academy living as a midshipman. I learned how to solder and build propellers (mine flew the highest of the week!). We also spent a day in Washington DC where we visited the Holocaust Museum and the Museum of Natural History.
What organization recognized the achievement?
United States Naval Academy
How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?
Through homeschooling, and know my parents were really helping to guide me through the writing process. I also took high school-level math in middle school, which helped me understand the math and science presented during the camp.
What are your interests?
I love to run cross country, build Legos, play piano, and solve puzzles.
What are you inspired to do with your life?
I want to be a leader in the United States Navy. I want to become a pilot and study aerospace engineering at The Academy.
What are your favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subjects are math and science. I love how the two relate to each other. I think math is challenging but ultimately just another puzzle for me to solve! Science is the application of math to many systems.
