Jonathan Chosen as St. Kateri Shrine Altar Server
What did you do?
I was allowed to altar serve Mass at St. Kateri’s Shrine for Fr. Innocent from Harlem, as an altar server in appreciation by my local parish.
I was given the opportunity to go on a pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Andre Bessette (St. Joseph’s Oratory, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and to the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Shrine, located at the St. Francis Xavier Mission, Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada with 10 Franciscan Friars of the Renewal from Harlem, New York who were visiting our parishes in Stowe & Morrisville, Vermont for a week.
What organization recognized the achievement?
My local parish, Blessed Sacrament Church in Stowe, VT, and the neighboring parish of Most Holy Name of Jesus in Morrisville, VT.
How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?
If it weren’t for my Religion homeschool studies, I would not have as much interest in helping at my parish by serving as an Altar Server. I am fortunate to be homeschooled, which allows me to assist at Mass when other kids are in school.
What are your interests?
My interests include building things with my Legos, playing video games, shooting, fishing, and solving Sudoku.
What are you inspired to do with your life?
I have not figured out what I am inspired to do with my life yet.
What are your favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subjects are Math, as I enjoy solving problems, and History, because I like learning about things.
The photo was taken at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Shrine.
