Maile Wins Girl’s Hawaii State Chess Championship

Maile Wins Girl’s Hawaii State Chess Championship

On Saturday, March 7, 2015, I won the girl’s state chess championship for Hawaii, sponsored by the Hawaii State Chess Federation. I started playing chess because I thought it was interesting. I enjoy participating in tournaments too.

Homeschooling allowed me to have a flexible schedule so that I could practice when I needed to.

I like to read, play chess, learn foreign languages, and play music. I play the guitar, the mandolin and am presently learning violin. I am also involved with Hawaii Women in Film and have made several short films.

Life inspiration: I want to be a good person and to do whatever God wants me to do.

Favorite subjects: Math and science are my favorite subjects.
