Anthony Wins Coloring Contest at Library

Anthony won a coloring contest along with the summer reading program at our local public library.

He won the ‘most creative’ in the four year old category. This year’s theme was ‘Building a Better World.’ Anthony asked me to label his picture with areas he thought were warmer and cooler. He won a certificate and chose an Arthur book as a prize.

What organization recognized the achievement?

The Nancy Kay Holmes Library in Scranton, Pennsylvania gave Anthony the coloring contest award.

How did homeschooling help you achieve your goal?

As homeschoolers, we make an extra point of visiting and participating in programming at our local library. We are there at least once a week and always enjoy borrowing and reading a big bag of books.

What are your interests?

Anthony (now 5) enjoys construction, building and trucks.

What are you inspired to do with your life?

Anthony wants to drive construction trucks when he grows up. He also makes sure to tell me that we’ll need to put his brother’s carseat in too, so that his baby brother John (2 yrs.) can beep the horn and ride along. Even though truck driving must be very exciting, he agrees that they should not work on Sundays and go to church instead.

Anthony’s latest prayer request has been to be able to hear his guardian angel speak. (We’ve been reading about the annunciation and angels during school-time) He also hopes to be able to see and hear his guardian angel like some of the people have in the Bible.

What are your favorite subjects and why?

Anthony’s favorite subject is science. He enjoys hands-on, lab activities. He is very interested in learning about how things are constructed and what makes them work.
